Analytical testing of prohibited or restricted ingredients in cosmetics (negative-positive analysis)

In order to export your products to Japan and circulate around them in the Japanese market, it is very important to make sure that they are not contaminated with ingredients that are permitted outside Japan but prohibited in Japan. Due to differences in test methods and lower limits of quantitation, some products may be determined to be NG in analytical tests conducted in Japanese laboratories.

The Japanese Standards of Quasi-drug Ingredients 2021(JSQI2021)

We inspect and test raw materials for cosmetics and quasi-drugs that your company manufactures and sells for the Japanese market in accordance with JSQI.

Quasi-drugs(Special cosmetics not classified as pharmaceutical products in Japan)

Application testing (Qualitation and Quantitation of active ingredients, etc.) to obtain manufacturing and marketing approval from the Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare for each Quasi-drug.
We recommend that you order BOKEN to perform the application test through a Japanese distributor.

Stability Test

Accelerated test

  • Temperature 40℃±2℃, humidity 75%RH±5%, test period 6 months

Long-term storage test

  • Temperature 25℃±2℃, humidity 60%RH±5%, test period 12 months (usually 3 years)

Severe test

  • Set the conditions considering temperature, and humidity.

The following are measurement items

Physical and chemical stability of product

  • evaluate the change in color and fragrance, pH value, weight loss, viscosity change,
    and emulsion stability (separation of product ingredients).

Microbiological stability of product

  • evaluate the degree of contamination by bacteria, mold, and yeast.

Packaging stability
